STAR*SMART: May 19-20 Full Moon and Grand Cross

Saturn in early Virgo widely opposes Neptune in Aquarius as Sun (29
degrees Taurus – right at the Pleiades, Weeping Sisters) and Venus
(24 degrees – square Neptune) opposes the Moon 29 Scorpio. This is a
“mixed” grand cross, with three planets in fixed signs and one in a mutable
sign.

This is a 5 planet Grand Square/Cross, so there is a lot going on, a lot of
integration called for. Ending degrees need maturity, conclusion, set
foundation. Early degrees want a fresh start, are trying on new shoes!
Some say our troubles shared makes the burden lighter. The full Moon
emphasizes feelings, letting go, reaching across the abyss. Fixed signs
like it right where they are, thank you very much. Saturn, especially in
Virgo, suggests simple practical long term solutions, sometimes based on
necessity. Workable and flexible makes sense.

Spiritually, this is for millions, the most special Full Moon of the year,
called Wesak, the festival of Buddha’s birthday. Taurus is for sitting,
passing the Pipe, peace. Scorpio is for absorption and healing, cleansing,
rejuvenation, shedding your snake skins, wriggling your new-grown freshly
sensuous self, relishing your pure good power from the deepest space
within!

On the way to the Koliya country, the great procession passed a garden
called Lumbini Park. This garden was near the kingdom called Nepal, at
the foot of the Himalayan mountains. The beautiful park with its sala trees
and scented flowers and busy birds and bees attracted the queen. Since
the park was a good resting place, the queen ordered the bearers to stop
for a while. As she rested underneath one of the sala trees, her birth began
and a baby boy was born. It was an auspicious day. The birth took place
on a full moon (which is now celebrated as Vesak, the festival of the triple
event of Buddha's birth, enlightenment and death), in the year 623 B.C.

Bull & Bear! Bear hibernates, think of Bear as Scorpio (the
opposite Sign), going into the darkness, healing from within, power from
Kundalini – down below. Bull, think of Taurus, thrusts forth May Day,
Beltane fertility, with flowers all over it! We’re not talking any emergency
(May Day) here, unless being chased around the meadow by your favorite
lover…wearing spring skirts was never so fun!

Interesting further connection between Bull & Bear. As a backpacker, I
have crossed paths with many a bear, mom bears with cubs. The sounds
they make sound just like calves!

Tauruses are this Earth Mother of ours. Sweet Souls that they are,
they be sure we have the best organic foods, that Mama Earth is
treated with respect. They get their peace with a walk through nature -
butterflies, wind in the trees, scents of the day, bird song, the feel under

 Along with condoms, student educators are passing
 out CFLs and sponsoring candlelit "Do It in the Dark"
 events. At the New School in New York City, an
 "I [Heart] Slutty Paper" campaign helped convince the
 college to switch from virgin paper (get it?) to 100
 percent recycled stock in all campus computer labs.
 At both party schools and evangelical universities,
 competitions between dorms, Greek houses, and
neighboring campuses to reduce energy and water use are yielding
more than just bragging rights: The winning residence hall at Mount
Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, for example, received an
energy- efficient flat-screen TV. [Did you wonder what a CFL is? A
modern light bulb with an integral ballast using a fraction of the electricity
used by a regular incandescent light bulb. Ah, I knew that.]
